Rugmaker's Handbook No. 3: "Crocheted & Fabric Tapestry Rugs"
by Diana Blake Gray

Our big new Handbook  has lots and lots of pictures of rugs, but only the cover is in color. Below are a few of the photographs from the book that folks have requested. There are written and/or charted directions for over 40 different rugs , so there just isn't room to show all of the things in the book, but here is a sample....

The book teaches step-by-step the technique to create round crocheted rugs, up to 6 feet across (left) and also variations of the basic crochet such as the double spiral rug (right).
Fabrics will change in appearance when made into crocheted rugs, such as these two examples from the handbook section.

The "Pinwheel" is the simplest fabric tapestry pattern, and an easy to learn beginner pattern. The Graded Pinwheel (left) and the "Rolling Wheel" (right) are simple variations of the basic Pinwheel pattern.

The "Autograph Cross" is one of the simple fabric tapestry rugs in the square shape (left). Specialty shaping of rugs includes Heel-prints, pentagon, freeform, hollow and double centers (right).
The basic "Nine-Patch" fabric tapestry pattern is just one of the quilt-inspired designs.
Fabric tapestry rugs change radically with different color schemes, like this intermediate "Poinsettia" pattern done in Christmas colors or earth tones. .
Star based patterns are great country accents.
