Göteborg aka Gothenburg

Göteborg is in a lovely twilight of summer.  The leaves have not begun to turn, and the parks and riverbanks are still a deep green.  The flowers are blooming in Göteborg.

Compared to my own home, in the northern Rocky Mountains of the U.S.A., the most striking feature of the weather is the moderate temperatures during the night.  At home, when I left, the daytime highs were in the 80's and/or 90's (F), but at night the temperature plunged into the mid 40's.  This stor variation is not untypical in dry mountain systems, as moisture in the air helps to buffer changes in temperature.  I assume that this helps explain the mildness in Göteborg, which is of course a coastal port city.

Humidity also helps explain why it was possible to break into a sweat just walking down the street.

I cannot offer any definitive view of this lovely city, as I only saw a tiny portion of it, and only for a few days.  But I would readily return.

Shameless plug (or advice):  I stayed at the Hotel Poseidon, and would recommend it.  The location was perfect for my purposes.  A few short blocks off the Avenyn, 10 minutes walk to Scandinavium, 1.5 blocks from the nearest tram station.  The single rum med dusch was tiny by American standards, but quickly proved adequate.  The bathroom, thank God, was absolutely modern and sparkling, with a large tiled shower like I wish I had in my home.  As part of the general tourist promotion in the city, I had taken the room with the "package", so that it included a card authorizing free travel on busses and trams, free entry into museums, etc.  Pity there wasn't time to do more of this.

By the way, get some help correctly pronouncing the name of this city.
