Sports medicine and the athlete
Sooner or later, every fitness enthusiast or athlete -- whether amateur or professional -- is injured. The injury could be minor, and quickly treated. Or it could be major, painful, prolonged.
But whatever the injury, the individual wants to correct the problem and continue sports activities. Talking with coaches, friends and fellow athletes may help to piece together some find of picture of the injury. But it's a jigsaw puzzle approach, piecemeal, often incomplete, an approach often delaying accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
The Sports Medicine Center can help. Here, located in one complete facility, is a team of sports medicine experts. Experts who recognize that the standard range of medical treatment is only part of the total answer. The demands of each individual sport and thorough knowledge of injury rehabilitation is also vital to the solution of the injury puzzle.
The Sports Medicine Center staff realizes major injuries often begin as minor complaints which are not properly identified or effectively rehabilitated. The Center's goal is to identify the problem and begin a rehabilitation program designed to return the individual to sports participation as quickly and safely as possible.
